During a press conference on Monday, Beshear said after months of dropping case rates, Kentucky is now seeing a rise in positive coronavirus cases, likely driven by the more contagious Delta variant. President Donald Trump offered federal assistance after two Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers were shot during a protest on Wednesday evening. LMPD Police Chief Robert Schroeder publicly identified the injured officers on Thursday morning and said both are expected to recover. Kenyan athletes were blood-tested for banned drugs for the first time inside the east African nation last month, Athletics Kenya chairman Isaiah Kiplagat said Wednesday.
