The ink has dried on the three-day rerun, and Nintendo has confirmed that, in a reverse of the original Splatfest, Ketchup players took home the win with a 2-1 victory against Team Mayo. Not only did more players once again side with Marina in the clash of condiments (though with only 55% of total players this time), they managed to beat out Pearl and Team Mayo in Pro matches to secure victory.

This will no doubt be a relief for fans of Ketchup, Marina, or both who’ve felt wronged by how the original turned out, and good news either way for fans who’ve been wanting Nintendo to bring back Splatfests.

Whether or not it will remains to be seen, though. Nintendo described the Mayonnaise Vs. Ketchup rematch as a “bonus one-off,” so it’s likely that it doesn’t have any more special events planned for Splatoon 2. But given how popular the event was, even three years after the game launched, it’s always possible that Nintendo could change its mind. No doubt players wouldn’t mind not having to wait until Splatoon 3 for some new content.

Splatoon 2 is available for Nintendo Switch.
