It’s a dream matchup of bluebloods that have combined for 13 national championships, and the winner will advance to Philadelphia for the East Regional semifinal next week.

Hall, Bob KnightWhat happened: Kentucky spoiled another Bob Knight tournament run in the Sweet 16, this time with the help of four players who scored in double digits. Melvin Turpin led the way with 16 points. Kentucky lost in the Elite Eight to rival Louisville.

1975

Score: Kentucky 92, Indiana 90Round: Regional finalCoaches: Joe B. Hall, Bob KnightWhat happened: Indiana took a 31-0 record into the Elite Eight matchup with Kentucky but lost in a shootout. The Wildcats spoiled that unbeaten record after playing to a tie at halftime. Mike Flynn led Kentucky with 22 points. The Wildcats lost to UCLA in the national championship game.

Score:  Indiana 72, Kentucky 65Round: Regional finalCoaches: Joe B. Hall, Bob KnightWhat happened: This was the first tournament matchup between the two schools, and it’s the only time the Hoosiers beat the Wildcats in the NCAA tournament. Steve Downing led the Hoosiers with 23 points, and Quinn Buckner added 16 points. Indiana lost in the Final Four to eventual national champion UCLA.
