A recent X-Men fanart gave fans a glimpse of Palmer as Rogue. Palmer’s performance in Nope and Hustlers over the past few years has given her more star power, so it wouldn’t be the least bit shocking to see her get an acting gig in a superhero film, let alone with the biggest blockbuster franchise in the country.

In Fanart created by the social media account Rahal Arts, Palmer was depicted as having red hair and the classic white on top while donning the usual attire many X-Men fans have come to know from Rogue in the comics. That includes the yellow and green suit she usually wore whenever she went to battle, as well as her classic leather jacket and her yellow gloves. The picture also depicted her putting on her gloves as she is getting ready to fight. The art was definitely more for those who grew up with the X-Men animated series from the 1990s instead of the popular movie franchise from the 2000s.
Again, an X-Men reboot is thinking way too far into the future since Disney has not made it a priority to reboot them right away. It makes sense since the X-Men would bring a whole new realm into the MCU with not only just mutants but also the conflicts that come with the X-Men. Another issue is that it’s only been three years since we last saw an X-Men film debut in theaters, so it might be too soon. On the other hand, since well-known actors like Giancarlo Esposito have publicly expressed interest in playing mutants, maybe it’s not too early to think about the X-Men reboot, which, while it may not come right away, is still coming nonetheless.
Palmer and Esposito would be welcome additions to the franchise’s reboot, knowing the acting repertoire both of them have, which could be a good infusion for Marvel Studios since X-Men hit on much deeper topics than most superhero comics actually do, like racism and bigotry. It’s one thing to have a serious topic to discuss, but there also needs to be good actors to pull that off. Though the previous X-Men franchise was inconsistent, it at least knew this when casting the likes of Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and, of course, Hugh Jackman as their mutants. Esposito and Palmer could do the same.
That’s not even to say that Marvel Studios’ had bad actors. They really haven’t. In fact, for them, a lot of their stars got their biggest break when they were cast in the MCU. It’s just that they don’t ask a lot out of their actors. It can be even more frustrating when fans see them demonstrate how good at acting they are in other projects. Sebastian Stan will be known best for playing Bucky Barnes, but because they haven’t asked him to do much, it’s frustrating to watch him when he’s shown he can be excellent in other projects like I, Tonya and Pam and Tommy. If Palmer and Esposito get cast, here’s to hoping they get to utilize their acting abilities.
